Elon Musk and the Power to Control America From the Back Seat! Musk Must Go Back to South Africa

The U.S. Supreme Court recently granted the president of the United States powers no president has held before.

In June, the court ruled that the president can fire officials Congress had long protected from removal, such as commissioners of independent agencies who were appointed by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The administration has also fired inspectors general, the watchdogs Congress put in place to police the government from within.

With those powers, we have seen the Trump administration make a major push to deport foreigners from this country. In many cases, those people come from Black and brown countries. Another power this administration has pursued is stripping citizenship from naturalized Americans.

Powers that may come back to haunt us

Now that these powers are out of the gate, what will happen when another administration takes office? Will we see a different Supreme Court? Or will the justices simply admit, “We created a mess, a monster. How do we take it back?” And if they do take it back, how will that look to Americans?

One thing is notable: I personally don’t believe the Democrats could find a candidate with the appetite or the testicular fortitude to act like the Trump administration.

But one thing I would like to see is the removal from this country of those who have violated our laws and our Constitution, regardless of their status, especially the rich and powerful. They can run their businesses and manage their wealth from outside the United States.

That brings one person to mind: Elon Musk, a billionaire who has been very active in invention and in politics.

Most recently, his actions involving Ukraine and Starlink have raised serious concern among Americans. Ukraine, in the middle of an active war with Russia, depends on Starlink for battlefield communications, yet one man decides where and how it can be used. That raises a question: How much power and control should one person have when he is not truly part of our government? And what role might he play with foreign adversaries?

How can the United States pay one man’s companies an estimated $8 million a day (yes, I said a day) and still allow that one person to control the very thing taxpayers are paying for? He controls how it operates, how it is used and whether it supports America’s partners.

How can one man have so much control, work inside the government, and still be paid through federal contracts? Laws keep ordinary Americans from doing exactly this. They include the Federal Acquisition Regulation; Title 18, Sections 207 and 208 of the U.S. Code, which govern conflicts of interest; and the Procurement Integrity Act, Title 41, Sections 2101 through 2107.

How does Mr. Musk get to avoid these laws? And how does Congress take a back seat while one man skirts the laws and the Constitution this country was founded upon, especially when he is not a U.S. citizen by birth?

Will the next administration have a backbone?

What will be very interesting is whether Washington returns to the good ol’ boy system of the Bush, Clinton and Bush era. Will Democrats and Republicans alike simply forgive and forget? Will there be accountability? Or will each side accept that this is the richest man in the world, so he can do as he pleases, and Americans must go along with it because of who he is?

Will Musk jump to the other side and pour billions of dollars into the other party’s coffers? That would alienate the side he leaves and push it to take action against him, or at least to want to.

Americans have lost their way. More than $10 billion has been spent on advertising alone for the 2026 midterm elections. Newspapers, radio and TV stations have made millions, even billions, on political ads.

Let’s remember: We send these folks to Washington to handle the business of our states and to make the rules, regulations and laws that make our lives better. Some leave businesses and private-sector jobs paying hundreds of thousands of dollars, only to go to Washington to make $174,000 a year. What many of us don’t know is that after five years of service, which is a single Senate term, they qualify for a pension for life. But the pension isn’t what Americans should worry about. It’s the millions and billions of dollars they direct to their friends and family while Americans pick up the bill.

Does Elon Musk deserve to stay in America? Should he be deported? I believe he should. He can still run and control his businesses from South Africa or wherever he chooses to go, but staying in America is not a good fit.

Why, in my opinion, is Elon Musk no longer a good fit for America? Once he crossed the line into our government’s affairs, I believe he should have lost every opportunity to do business with the government. Under DOGE, he oversaw the firing of thousands of federal workers. His team gained access to our personal information, from the IRS to the Social Security Administration. Mr. Musk put his nose into Americans’ business in a way that even some of our elected officials have no authority to do.

National security

The Trump administration has tested the courts and the American people in ways Americans have never been tested before.

One guest on my live podcast told me, “Elon provides more than 150,000 jobs to people here in America.” My first response was: So what? He can provide those same jobs from South Africa.

How do we know what happened to the information Mr. Musk was able to review while leading DOGE? To what country could Elon sell our information, if he wanted to? How do we know he isn’t a double agent working for other countries? At the end of the day, how can Americans know whether Elon is looking for the next highest bidder, or the next country that will give him more power, to sell or hand over American secrets?

I would like to hear your opinion: How should America deal with Elon Musk after he defied Americans from inside the federal government and took the position he took on Ukraine during an active war with Russia? Join me on my podcast, “The Ryan B Experience: The Water Cooler Moment,” on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. I will be hosting a three-part series on Elon Musk and “his power to control America from the back seat.”
